The sun, the main character in the work of Claude Lorrain?

Three shots, three "actors": this could be the key to this modest drawing of Lorrain. A u foreground, some marine and some cause or quick maneuvers in the harbor, too busy to capture the beauty of the place and time. In the background, the works of men: a turn to the left and rear, surrounded by ships was imperative as the seventeenth century and a smaller boat, the front and right, a door, with which wets another mainmast. The buildings of stone or wood rise vertically from the horizon, as if to assert the dominance of will over the elements, and the sustainability of this control. But the main character in the scene, the undisputed lord is the sun which appears at the bottom of a cone of clouds, and whose majesty that punctuates the flight of birds, reigns supreme. We gladly would see the symbol of God's providence and infallible it exerts on the creation.
